You Can Never Go Wrong With Clear Containers

We love the clear container trick! All of the things you will need when you first move into your new home should be in a clear container. Prioritizing the clear containers for the items you need first allows you to find them so much easier than sorting through boxes. Packing the items, you need first can also help when packing your boxes. The things that you will need first can be the first things out of the hauling vehicle.

Save Money On Bubble Wrap

Instead of spending crazy money trying to buy yards of bubble wrap instead, consider our moving hack. One way to save money and space while moving is to use towels and clothing, also your bubble wrap. Wrapping breakables like kitchenware and fine China in towels and clothing keeps them from breaking, saves you money and saves space when you are trying to move. This is one of our tips for moving favorite hacks, and we will definitely be telling all our agents about it.

Label Your Boxes

Tips for Moving

Labeling your boxes seems like a no-brainer, but we have a tip that will make moving even more effortless. Instead of only writing the box’s contents, add the items, location and owner of the box. Writing a detailed description on the box allows you to know exactly where the box goes in seconds. You can also decide how to stack the boxes in the hauling vehicle because you can easily stack them by room.

Cut Down On The Cardboard

Instead of purchasing or finding a bunch of cardboard boxes, use containers you already have around the house. Place items in your ottoman, keep the clothes in dressers and pack items into empty suitcases. Anything you can find to place items in will save you time and money. There is nothing worse than having tons of cardboard boxes lying around the house for weeks. Cut down on your cardboard by getting a bit unconventional with your packing.

Keep Your Clothes on The Hanger

This is one of the best tips for moving, you should pass on to your entire family. Instead of taking all clothes off the hangers and packing them into boxes, keep the clothes on the hangers. Get some extra garbage bags and cut holes at the top for the hanger hooks. The gap creates a make-shift garment bag. Grab a hand full of clothes hangers and slide the hooks into the opening at the top of the bag. Once the hooks are through the opening, slide down the sides of the garbage bag. Don’t forget to tie it at the bottom. You can easily pack up an entire closet with this hack. It makes unpacking a breeze, simply hang up in the closet and cut open the garbage bag.

Change Your Address Two Weeks Before Moving

Changing your address before moving is something that many homeowners forget. Once the papers have been signed and you are beginning the move-out process, change your address in advance. At least two weeks allow you to check all addresses and give businesses a chance to transfer your information like banks etc. Don’t miss out on essential pieces of mail by forgetting to change your mailing address. It also makes it much simpler when you change your driver’s license address.

Give Nice Items to Local Organizations

Tips for Moving

We get it; moving can be overwhelming, especially when you have accumulated lots of stuff over the years. That is why donating can always provide some relief when you are moving. Donating your things allows them to benefit someone else. That coffee table or bedroom suite may seem like a headache to you, but it is a saving grace to another family and precisely what they need. That is why we always recommend donating some of your nicer things to local nonprofits.

Rent A Moving Vehicle

Renting a moving vehicle can seem tedious, especially when family and friends are willing to help move your things. But renting a car can take some major stress off your shoulders. Most moving companies offer insurance for the vehicle and your items in case of an accident. This can give you the peace of mind that you need while moving. While moving vehicles do come at a cost, we believe they are well worth it!

Create Inventory List

We cannot stress enough how vital an inventory list will be when moving. Documenting everything in a spreadsheet before you move allows you to keep track of everything coming along with you in the move. This will help you when you are shopping after the move to replenish things you need.
